World Pharmacist Day, 2024

On 25 September 2024, the Pharmacy & AMS teams at SUT Hospital, Pattom led a hospital-wide program for World Pharmacists Day focused on safer medicine use. Highlights Medication-Safety Kiosk: pill identification, correct dosing, storage, and expiry checks. Brown-Bag Reviews: patients brought current medicines for interaction and duplication checks. Renal/Liver Dose Checks: quick reviews and clinician tips for high-risk drugs. Antimicrobial Stewardship Corner: AMR basics, when antibiotics help (and when they don’t), de-escalation. ADR Reporting Desk (PvPI): how to recognize and report suspected reactions. Staff Engagement: poster display, quiz, and quick huddles on look-alike/sound-alike alerts. The day reinforced the pharmacist’s role as a frontline patient-safety partner.
